Goodbye Jailbreak? – Hackulous No More

They say all things come for an end, and what a way to start the 2013 for the Jailbroken devices as the popular Jailbreak App repository Hackulous is now closing its site for a seemingly invalidate but sensible reason.
We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We’re incredibly thankful for the support we’ve had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence.
It seems clear that fewer and fewer people have the need to jailbreak maybe because of the more features of the iOS that nearly matches the capabilities of a jailbroken devices. The timing is also crucial as it is the start of the year where many people have new devices (Apple) who wants to have a bite of the jailbreak features which is starting to go down as the Hackulous communit started.
I not sure if they are being too much generous that they don’t get the returns from the free apps which is ironic because most of the owners of the jailbroken devices wants free. And then another issue goes about piracy of these apps which greatly affects the developers of this apps. So this can be the end of Jailbroken devices or even the start of a new community which I’m sure will not remain silent of because of these developments.
A conspiracy theory maybe that Apple secretly settled an agreement with the Hackulous community or even threaten the group to shutdown because of the growing piracy of the apps. And this is not a surprise if Apple really does this as we have seen the potential during the patent battles with Samsung.
We can all speculate about many reasons but it is done, Hackulous is closed and a comeback maybe for naught , next is that will Jailbreak be gone for good? Has apple successfully monopolize the app world? Will there be another hackulous or an alternative? We shall see in the coming months and years to come.
