Singtel Group’s Go Ignite Opens Doors to Philippine Startups

The most promising local growth startups working on solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics, content delivery, cyber security, or customer experience enhancement space have a huge new opportunity to scale their business through Go Ignite, the recently-announced innovation alliance of the Singtel Group with its European counterparts.
The alliance, composed of the innovation arms of Deutsche Telekom (hub:raum), Orange (Orange Fab), Singtel (Singtel Innov8), and Telefónica (Telefónica Open Future), offers to help top startups in the Philippines and abroad find business development opportunities, accelerate the commercialization of their innovations and bring their business outside their home market. Up to five innovative startups will be selected for the program: the global call for startups to apply will be open until 11:59PM CET on April 30, 2016. Applications are submitted via the Telefonica Open Future platform. Shortlisted startups will be invited to pitch to the Go Ignite Alliance members.

Through the collective resources of these four major global carriers, any startup shortlisted to the top five would have a wealth of opportunities and services to help them accelerate their global growth aspirations,” said Minette Navarrete, President of Kickstart Ventures, Inc., a wholly-owned venture capital firm of Globe Telecom which is also a part of the Singtel Group.
Kickstart is a founding member of Singtel Group’s Innov8 Sparks, a network of technology startup support and funding initiatives. Kickstart helps startups by breaking down barriers that prevent founders from accessing capital, mentors, and markets. The VC firm’s network of business connections build virtual bridges to enable close and relevant engagement between the business community and startup founders.
To translate their ideas into viable solutions quicker, selected startups will benefit from the alliance members’ insights into different markets, introductions to partners, use of co-working spaces, potential investment, coaching, mentoring, invitations to showcases and events, and access to the alliance members’ operating businesses. They will also have the opportunity to gain access to Go Ignite alliance members’ business units and their collective customer base, which includes enterprises and consumers, equating to over one billion mobile customers across five continents.

BTS PH Army Pearls Donates Globe Rewards points to Hapag Movement in celebration of #Hobiuary

BTS PH Army Pearls and Globe Rewards came together for a good cause in celebration of J-Hope’s birthday in February. The energetic and mood-maker rapper of Bangtan turned 29 last February 18, prompting his fandom to make “Hobiuary”— or the fandom’s new term for the month of February— more meaningful by helping those suffering from involuntary hunger through the Hapag Movement.
In this partnership, the BTS Filipino fan base pooled their Globe Rewards points to donate to the Hapag Movement. Hapag Movement is Globe’s banner program that aims to address hunger alleviation and help create sustainable livelihood opportunities for underserved Filipinos. The program is mobilized through Ayala Foundation, Caritas Philippines, Tzu Chi Foundation, and World Vision Philippines.
“We have witnessed J-Hope’s growth as a genius artist. He continues to learn and challenge himself, and we couldn’t be any prouder of him. That’s why this Hobiuary, we’re celebrating his birthday by giving back to the community,” she said.
Mirza Ann Barcenilla, Head and Founder of BTS Army PH Pearls, shared how the group’s love for J-Hope moved them to support the Hapag Movement.
“This is a continued commitment from Globe to deeply engage our dear customers with their passion while doing a Globe of Good through Hapag Movement,” said Mike Magpily, Head of Marketing Strategy at Globe.
Fans came together on March 3 to 5 at the Trinoma Activity Center as a way for them to create a meaningful send off for the idol as he recently announced his enlistment.
A turnover ceremony was held at the end of the event, where a cheque from BTS PH Army Pearls under the Hobiuary fandom project was donated to the Hapag Movement.
The donation period ran until March 5, 2023, with members of BTS PH Army Pearls able to donate their Globe Rewards points for as low as one point. Each point is equivalent to one peso.
The Hapag Movement is Globe’s unified fight against hunger that leverages digital platforms to encourage everyone to help–from individuals to multi-sectoral partners. The movement provides beneficiaries with supplemental feeding and livelihood training. These include technical and vocational training, upcycling programs for mothers, job placement initiatives for college scholars, capacity-building initiatives, and self-sufficiency programs.
