Fans of Netflix original titles and content can now subscribe to the internet television network through Globe Direct Carrier Billing services

Further strengthening its content offering to customers, Globe announced its much-awaited partnership with Netflix, the world’s leading internet television network. Home to some of the best original series and extensive library of TV and movie titles, Globe and its partnership with Netflix will provide Filipinos access to the streaming giant’s top quality entertainment via their mobile or broadband service.

On June 24, Globe announced its partnership with Netflix making it the first Philippine mobile and broadband to offer Netflix on its mobile/broadband platform. Soon, Globe customers will be able to subscribe to Netflix through Globe, and enjoy its content anytime, anywhere, on nearly any internet-connect screen, while conveniently charging the monthly subscription to their Globe mobile or broadband accounts.

“The Filipino’s swift adaption to the digital lifestyle and our shift to smartphones also changed the way we enjoy entertainment. Today, everyone demands primetime shows, anytime. Our partnership with Netflix gives us this extensive library that will allow us to give our customers their much-awaited TV and movie titles whether they are at home or on-the-go”, says Globe Chief Commercial Officer, Albert de Larrazabal.

Netflix Partners with GlobeTo date, the Philippines is now the fastest growing smartphone market in ASEAN according to the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Asia/Pacific Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, with 3.5 million smartphones shipped to the country in the 1st quarter of 2016.

“Today, Netflix is bringing the joy of entertainment to over 81 million members in 190 countries through our great content. Our partnership with Globe brings us closer to consumers who love entertainment and enables us to connect even more Filipinos to our top quality Netflix original shows and movies like Marvel’s Daredevil, Orange is The New Black, Narcos and many more,” says Tony Zameczkowski, Netflix Vice President,Business Development, Asia Pacific.

Netflix will also soon be available to customers on the new customized Broadband plans. Customers can now mix and match their preferred internet speeds that can be bundled with access to content and entertainment devices ranging from smart HD TVs, speakers, streaming devices, gaming consoles and even security cameras.

Larrazabal continues that, “this new way of putting together a broadband plan makes the selection process not only easy, but enjoyable for the Filipino family. With our new plans, our families will be in full control, allowing them to discover their digital lifestyle by being able to WATCH exclusive movies, TV shows and enjoy concert-like experiences; LISTEN to millions of songs and PLAY games for endless hours, as they want.”

By signing up for a Netflix account, members can watch today’s top original Netflix series and renowned movie hits. Netflix adds TV programs and films all the time. As members start using the service, Netflix’s algorithms will start to shape each member’s personal profile with recommendations based on what each member likes. Depending on the subscription plans, members can create up to four profiles within a single Netflix account. Profiles allow different members of the household to have their own personalized Netflix experience built around the films and TV programs they enjoy. There are also parental control settings to ensure a safe-viewing experience for kids. This will limit a child’s profiles to child-friendly titles.

Globe Joins NTC-led assisted Registration in 30 More Areas #SimCardRegistration

Globe, the leader in Mobile, is kicking off February with its continuing participation in the SIM registration assistance initiative led by the government, deploying booths in 30 more areas.

From February 1 to 3, Globe will provide SIM registration assistance in far-flung towns from northern to southern provinces to reach as many customers as possible before the April 26, 2023 deadline.

“We are undertaking a multi-pronged effort to be as inclusive as we can in the SIM registration process. Globe is there for our customers whether online or offline. We will work alongside the government all the way in bringing support for SIM registration on the ground where our customers need us,” said Cleo Santos, Head of Globe’s Channel Management Group.

Residents in the following towns may proceed to these locations if they need help to register their Globe or TM SIMs.

Globe also supported the first round of government-led SIM registration assistance, deploying booths to 15 areas from January 25 to 27. It has also started rolling out its own SIM registration assistance desk across the country, partnering with Puregold from January 27 to 29 to provide help to SIM users. Globe also recently held assisted registration for festival goers at the Sinulog Festival in Cebu and the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo.

Globe’s online SIM registration platform, https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg, is accessible 24/7 for Globe and TM users to register their SIMs. The GlobeOne app will also soon be enabled for SIM registration to give customers greater convenience while providing exclusive deals and offers.

As of January 31, Globe has logged over 11 million registered prepaid SIMs. Globe is again urging its customers to plan and schedule their registration, as failure to do so within deadline will lead to SIM deactivation.

Globe Logs over 11M Prepaid SIM Registrants, urges Customers to Register before April 26 Deadline

Globe, the leader in Mobile, has registered more than 11 million active prepaid SIMs around a month after the law mandating all Filipinos to register their SIMs took full effect.

Globe hit the milestone 11-million mark on Monday, January 30, 2023, a month after the SIM Registration Act was rolled out as a measure to stop cybercrime, including scam messages that proliferated due to the anonymity provided by prepaid SIMs.

“We are grateful to our customers for promptly registering their SIMs. We understand the importance of addressing the proliferation of scam and spam messages and have made it our priority to provide our customers with a seamless registration process. We are committed to meeting the deadline and continuing our efforts to protect our customers from scammers and fraudsters,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

Globe urges its customers who have yet to register to visit its user-friendly registration portal https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg. There are an estimated 87.4 million existing SIM users under the Globe network.

Registration via the GlobeOne app will begin in February as an added channel where customers may register their SIMs. As a user of GlobeOne, customers will have access to exclusive offers and deals that are available only in the app.

Globe also provided support for government-led assisted registration in priority sites nationwide from January 25 to 27. Globe established booths in 15 areas and provided assistance to anyone who needed help, especially those in need of special assistance, including senior citizens, PWDs awww and those using basic/feature phones.

Other than supporting the NTC-led assisted SIM registration, Globe has also started rolling out its own on-site assistance booths across the country. From January 27 to 29, it led SIM registration assistance in 30 Puregold branches in strategic locations in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. It will extend SIM registration assistance in other locations soon.

These efforts aim to provide inclusive ways to get its customers registered by the April 26, 2023 deadline. Users who fail to complete their registration on time will have their SIMs deactivated.

Even before the new law was implemented, Globe has taken several steps to curb disruptive messages through proactive blocking, threat intelligence partnerships with financial institutions, a customer reporting portal, plus an awareness and education campaign to help customers with online protection.

Globe Deactivates, Blacklists More than 50,000 SIMs Linked to Fraud in 2022

Leading digital solutions platform Globe deactivated and blacklisted more than 50,000 SIMs last year as it continued to intensify consumer protection initiatives amid the rising cases of online fraud.

Globe deactivated 20,225 SIMs and blacklisted 35,333 SIMs involved in scam and spam messages in 2022 alone as part of its campaign for internet safety.

This was on top of the record 2.72 billion scam and spam messages it blocked last year, 83.4 million of which were bank-related. All these efforts have been on-going to protect customers from harmful content and fraud before the enactment of the SIM Registration Act.

“Globe recognizes the growing threat posed by scammers, who use various tactics, including text messages, to deceive innocent victims into giving up personal information that could be used to compromise their financial accounts. We will continue to invest in our cybersecurity program to protect our customers from these unscrupulous individuals,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe Chief Information Security Officer.

Under its filtering protocol, Globe deactivates SIMs within its network once detected to have been involved in fraud. Meanwhile, SIMs outside of the Globe network are blacklisted to prevent them from sending to Globe.

Globe Deactivates SIM Blocked

On its own, Globe has taken a proactive approach to combat cybercrime schemes through various initiatives. It has implemented blocking mechanisms, established partnerships with financial institutions for threat intelligence, created a customer reporting portal, and launched an awareness and education campaign to empower customers with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, in a move to address growing concern over the use of unregistered SIMs in committing cybercrimes, the government introduced Republic Act No. 11934, also known as the SIM (subscriber identity module) Registration Act. Signed into law in October, the measure requires all mobile and broadband users to register their SIMs with their respective service providers to ensure that they are properly identified.

As of January 25, Globe has logged 10.4 million registrations of prepaid SIMs.
