Fix Galaxy S9 And Galaxy S9 Plus Not Turning On Option

Nothing beats the ecstatic feeling of powering on your newly purchased Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, that is until next year when the flagship successor comes out. The phone is one of the best models you can get this year and is in direct competition with other similarly strong brands like the iPhone and Sony’s Xperia smartphone lineup.

The latest flagship phone from Samsung also boasts a new operating system, which is the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, and takes advantage of its new and improved UI capabilities.

What happens though if your phone will not turn on anymore? Whether it is a new phone out-of-the-box with inconsistent boot up chances or a phone which has experienced a minor accident or disaster, this can be very frustrating. Coupled with the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus are just a few months out from their initial release date, then it is a truly infuriating experience, one that might even be enough to warrant a change in phone models or brand preference.

Before you do that, however, there are a few steps to take prior to making up your mind and considering a new brand from a different manufacturer. The problem is usually hardware-related, though it wouldn’t hurt to try some standard fixes, as these should only take you a short while to perform, hopefully by the end of all the steps, your phone should be able to power up consistently.

How to Fix Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus Not Turning On:

Connect the phone to a different power source

This should be the most obvious step, it usually involves a couple of chargers or a couple of power outlets to check if it really is your phone that is acting up and not any other hardware involved. As always, safety should be your top priority both for your phone and you, so make sure your chargers are not fake or your power outlets are not faulty, also keep those hands dry and handle the chargers by the plug and not the wire.

Find a different charger for your phone. Try another Samsung Android phone charger or any other Android device charger. Make sure it is not a knock-off and that it can fit in the phone’s slot
Try that charger to see if the phone will power on
If it does not, try changing the power outlet of that charger and check if the phone powers on
Try another smartphone in the charger and outlet, also try that other smartphone with the Samsung charger
If the other phone works, then you can rule out hardware problems with other electronic devices involved, meaning it really is your phone that has a problem

After this preliminary step, proceed to the next ones.

Make sure the Power button is not broken

This step is also another obvious one and involves the physical Power button of the phone. You might have tried this once or twice to no avail, but what you will need to do to be doubly sure is to try pressing the Power button in different intervals to check if you’ll get a response from your phone. You can also inspect the Power button itself by feeling if there is anything off or loose with it or visually by holding up a flashlight to see if it has any physical damage.

With this step out of the way and your phone still wont turn on, proceed to the next one below. Though it is highly advised to not skip these two simple steps since they are necessary to rule out physical damages to your phone.

Try booting to Safe Mode

All Samsung smartphones usually have this option for advanced troubleshooting, and the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus are no exceptions. This mode can be used to check if an app you installed may have been causing problems for your phone, it is essentially a bare bones mode for your phone with a lot of other functions muted while in this mode.

The idea is that if there are no problems occurring in Safe Mode, then the cause of the problem definitely lies in something you might have installed or might have been placed in the phone by someone else. To access Safe Mode you must;

Hold the phone with both hands
Press and hold the Power button
Keep holding the key until a Samsung logo appears on-screen
SHOULD it appear, press and hold the Volume Down button
A screen with the words “Safe Mode” should appear once the phone is done booting up, by then you should release both buttons
If your phone boots up like this but not in a regular way, then there is something wrong with the software and not the hardware of the device
In Safe Mode, try removing any app or data you installed after the issue started occurring, or any app you suspect which might have caused the problem
Afterwards, try turning the phone on regularly

If this does not work and the problem still persists, move on to the next solution below.

Try the Recovery Mode, delete Cache Partition

This one is more advanced than the Safe Mode and should not be toyed with as it can cause problems if you are not familiar with but played around with it. Note that this should only be done if you cannot go into the Safe Mode of your phone as it is the last and final step before you seek technical help. If you are ready, you should:

Hold the phone with both your hands
Tap and hold the Volume Up, Bixby button, and Power button all at the same time and for a short while
Wait until the Samsung logo appears, then release all three buttons
Once you see the Android logo with the words “No command,” tap on the screen
You should not be on the Recovery Mode of your phone, careful not to accidentally initiate any unnecessary command
You can use the Volume keys to navigate the Recovery Mode menu. Use the Power button to confirm a command you have selected
Select the Wipe Cache Partition command by pressing the Volume Down key
Activate it using the Power button once you have selected it
Wait for the phone to complete its task
Afterwards you can Power Off the phone and restart it manually
It should now be able to turn off an one regularly

This is because the command to Wipe Cache Partition also clears up corrupted data. This may have been causing the problem. Still, if the problem is hardware related, then the Recovery Mode might not do much and might not even appear.

Get a Technician

If problems persist, you might want to turn over the Galaxy device to the professionals. This could be from the retailer where you bought the phone. It could also be an authorized service center which caters to Samsung smartphones. You might want to check up on your warranty policy first though as it varies per retailer. Still, there is a good chance that technicians will be able to fix the problem. If they cannot, then a replacement should be in order, depending on the warranty.

The issue could well be a faulty Power button, something they can easily fix. It is advised that you do not try any further or obscure fixes as you might cause more damage.

You also might want to hurry up and seek technical help fast. Call the retailer or the service center before the warranty or a replacement policy expires. Just remember to be honest with them. Make it clear you have nothing to do with the problem. That way they can easily determine the cause or easily requisition a replacement.

Regardless, issues like these should not be that common in a new model such as the S9. Given the reputation of the manufacturer and the caliber of the said devices, its surprising. If the problem is a result of your own actions, you may have a problem. Accidents like dropping it, water damage, or crack while in your pocket aren’t covered. Signs of physical damage might not be covered in warranties, depending on the store.

In this blog article, I’ll show you step by step instructions on how to map network group policy preferences and item-level targeting.

Mapping a drive means that you want permanent access to a shared folder created on another computer. Windows OS will assign a drive letter to the network drive and it can be accessed just like any other local drive connected to your computer.

Mapping network drives with group policy preference is very easy and it does not require any scripting knowledge. Also, We can use item-level targeting to map drives based on specific conditions like group membership, OU, operating system, etc.

In this example, We will use item-level targeting so it only maps the network drive for users who are a member of the specific security group.

For this guide already I have created.
Two users with the name HR User1 and HR User2
One security group name HRUsers. (HR User1 is a member of this security group)

It works perfectly fine for us.
Now, any user we put in the HRUsers security group will get this mapped drive.

In this post, we will learn the steps to deploy desktop wallpaper using group policy in Windows Server 2019. By using this group policy setting, we can deploy common desktop wallpaper on the user’s desktop and prevent users from changing the desktop wallpaper.

We can use JPG (.jpg) or Bitmap (.bmp) image file to deploy desktop wallpaper through Group Policy. It is common practices in the organization to set up a common desktop background on the computers using GPO.

We have two virtual machines for this demo.

ws2k19-dc01.mylab.local (Windows Server 2019 DC)
ws10-cli01.mylab.local (Windows 10 client computer)

(Note: We will apply common desktop background policy at domain level)

1. On C: drive create a new folder name CommonWall. Share this folder with everyone read-only permission.
