Laptops, tablets, TVs and smartphones are the main gadgets you see these days in a fast-changing technology era, and we usually own multiple gadgets of these types at home and for work. Juggling our daily tasks in life, whether in school, at work or home, we need to stay connected with our loved ones as well as enjoy every moment of it with our colleagues and friends. What if we can do all of these things using single device? That’s what the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED (T3300) is here for.
Our friends from ASUS sent us a unit for review & I’m very fortunate & excited to share with you guys what this amazing device can do.
Unboxing, Divide and Conquer
We can see the package with its various compartments due to its multiple accessories included. First is the screen itself, which is secured properly, then the keyboard detached by default, & then the back cover or the stabilizer that keeps the screen standing up.
The Vivobook 13 Slate OLED comes with a FREE laptop sleeve inside the box which is rare to see for a brand-new unit, & it’s great since the unit will be protected on day 1.
At the bottom part of the box, you will see the manual & warranty cards; better keep them for future needs.
The other box compartment contains the ASUS Pen 2.0 and the USB type charger. The ASUS Pen needs to be charged, pull the top portion up, and you will see the USB C slot for the charger. Then before you can use it, you need to turn on the Bluetooth by pressing the top button on the ASUS Pen. The light will show & pair it in the Vivobook Slate 13 OLED. There is also a manual if you need more information.
Underneath the ASUS Pen box is the USB-C type charger, where you plug it at the left side part of the screen.
First Impressions and Test Run
Holding the screen without the accessories gives me a feeling of holding just a tablet & by booting it on, the default ASUS logo boots up similar to all the setup information like a standard Windows PC.
You will immediately see the OLED experience which makes the screen very vibrant & the colors are very clear. The viewing experience is much better than on regular tablet screens. It’s amazing that it is already in the latest Windows 11 operating system, which is the best OS for Windows when it comes to the touchscreen interface.
I was having a good time browsing the windows menu using its swipe command and was able to adapt it immediately after a few navigations since I was used to iOS & android touch panels. I actually almost forgot that it has an ASUS Pen accessory included in the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED.
Tablet Mode
Then I checked out the ASUS Pen which is in a separate box. It’s my first time using a Windows paired stylus pen. Setting up is fairly easy, and it has a USB C slot for charging. It also has two buttons at the side for right & left click functions, perfect for content designers who use Photoshop. Jot down your to-do list, keep track of your deliverables in Excel, and sketch your ideas. Use the ASUS Pen to annotate PDF documents, navigate through Powerpoint presentations, and draw diagrams. It also has extra pen tips according to your preference.
The ASUS Pen is very responsive to the Vivobook Slate 13 OLED touchscreen; you can adjust the sensitivity in the settings. Browsing the screen is much easier with the ASUS Pen & it keeps the touchscreen clean & no fingerprints.
You can also download Windows apps that are perfect for touch pen use. This is a very good device for content creators who are into writing stuff directly on the device & for those who love sketching & drawing your artistic works.
Laptop Mode
Aside from being a touchscreen device, you can easily convert it to a laptop in a split second. All you need to do is attach the keyboard included in the package at the bottom of the screen & the magnet will put it automatically in place.
Then attach the cover stand support at the backside of the screen than can adjust up to 170 degrees & there you go, you have a laptop. The keyboard contains the same keys as the regular laptop with a touchpad so it looks sleeker w/ the ASUS Pen at the side.
Keyboard typing is great & it’s responsive; though I prefer a Bluetooth one, it gets the job done. The touchpad is also wide & easy to navigate.
Powered by the MS Office and Student, it can run all basic applications & programs for your daily task like MS Word/Excel & it’s very lightweight. You can take it anywhere you & convert it to a tablet instantaneously. It also has ports for connectivity like 2 USB-C slots, a Micro SD card reader and an audio jack.
This is perfect for students for online school & digital nomads who are always on the go & just enough to get the work done wherever you are.
Conclusion
The ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED for me is the most diverse device you can use in your daily tasks anytime and anywhere. With its flexible modes which you can switch from tablet to laptop & vice versa, it is a big plus if you are always away from your table whether at school, work, gym and even travels. Since it’s not that bulky, you can easily bring and insert it in a backpack like a book & open it when needed. With the latest Windows 11 Operating system, you can ensure that you can run many applications, including the basic ones like the Microsoft and Adobe products. The ASUS Pen 2.0 makes it look more sleek and professional in any environment.
