Paradise Rising finds new home in KROMA Entertainment
Paradise Rising, a global platform that brings rising Filipino talents to the forefront of local and international youth culture, has found a new home in KROMA Entertainment.
It is now home in the music division of KROMA, a tradigital entertainment company passionate about creators, talent, content, and technology. KROMA is backed by leading digital solutions platform Globe.
The music label, a Filipino sister label of Asian-American media company 88rising, has been instrumental in putting the Philippines on the global music map amid the pandemic. It expands the presence of artists of Filipino descent through artist development, music distribution, and music rights management.
“Only two years since its launch, Paradise Rising has been true to its ambition of providing a platform for Filipino talent to be recognized on the global music stage. Now the names Ylona Garcia and Guapdad 4000 can be heard offshore, with respectable brands trusting them and millions of fans worldwide listening. This is just the beginning. 2022 will see a more powerful and border-breaking music experience,” said Denise Seva, Head of LiveMNL and Music at KROMA.
Filipino-American hip hop sensation Guapdad 4000 was the first artist signed by the young label. Guapdad 4000 is also the first Paradise Rising artist to release a full-length project through the 1176 album, in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning Filipino-American producer !LLMIND.
Guapdad 4000 is hailed for his talent, creativity, and versatility. He already has a Grammy nomination, a number of viral singles, and tours.
On the other hand, Filipino-Australian singer-actress Ylona Garcia released her debut single “All That” with Paradise Rising in March 2021, followed by “Don’t Go Changing” in September.
Her newest single, “Entertain Me,” is the theme song for Neon, the new Filipino agent in Valorant, the popular first-person shooter game of Riot Games. It is her biggest release so far, with 14 million streams on Spotify and 4 million views on YouTube.
Ylona also performed at the Head in The Clouds 3 Festival, an annual music festival organized by 88rising, as she continues to carve a name for herself internationally.
Paradise Rising was launched in 2020 with the debut mixtape “semilucent,” featuring five local artists Kiana Valenciano, Massiah, Jason Dhakal, Fern., and Leila Alcasid, who specialize in different music genres.
It returned with a sophomore five-track EP “semilucent 2” in 2021, with a brand-new roster of talented artists. They are Filipino-Canadian R&B duo MANILA GREY, Filipino R&B singers Steven Peregrina and daze, rapper Curtismith, and Filipino-American artist Christian Alexander. The EP also includes a collaboration between Filipino-American producer Manila Killa and Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna.
Paradise Rising is determined to continue putting the spotlight on Filipino music and artists to establish them in the West and throughout the world.

KROMA Sets New Virtual Event Standard with xR Disguise Technology
KROMA Entertainment, a company backed by the Globe Group, recently gave media and viewers a taste of its “tradigital” brand of entertainment when it launched on April 6 with a visual bang.
KROMA introduced its entertainment brand through an extended reality (xR) disguise event rarely seen in the Philippines, bringing a magical and immersive experience for its online audience by combining the physical and virtual worlds.
Far from the usual green screen execution, xR disguise is a more dynamic and intense production. It allowed KROMA officials to interact smoothly with complex virtual effects and real-time computer graphics, resulting in more natural shots.
The xR disguise platform creates exciting live visual experiences based on augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). It was used by many world-class acts, such as the globally popular boy band BTS in its “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour, and international singer Katy Perry in one of her American Idol performances.
KROMA used the same technology in its launch, where it introduced its various brands across the entertainment spectrum, straddling traditional and digital media.
For spectacular xR disguise productions similar to what the KROMA launch showcased, LiveMNL, KROMA’s full-service activation brand, is all set to take on the challenge. Denise Seva, Head of LiveMNL and Music, said they continue to evolve by integrating the live component and product and tech innovations in the digital space.
“We at LiveMNL are always on the lookout for something fresh and innovative in delivering our events – be it ours or for our clients. I’ve seen a lot of comments that people were very impressed and happy with what we produce, so expect more of that coming from LiveMNL,” Seva said at the launch.
Meanwhile, KROMA CEO Ian Monsod said the launch production is not the sole proof that shows how KROMA is going beyond content to further enrich the audience experience.
By being part of the Globe Group’s telecommunications and technology ecosystem, KROMA can connect consumers to related interests and passion points, communities, brands, websites, apps, and services essential to their daily lives.
“We are a diverse team of passionate individuals who bring together varying perspectives and points of view to create something engaging, exciting, and trailblazing for the Filipino audience. We do this across our ecosystem of brands, creators, content, and experiences. We have something for everyone’s entertainment,” Monsod said.
KROMA, a company backed by the 917Ventures Retirement Fund, operates LiveMNL, UPSTREAM, ANIMA, Secret Menu, Paradise Rising, NYMA, Wonder.PH, and FreebieMNL. It also partnered with ABS-CBN and 917Ventures on the country’s first fully multi-screen interactive free TV channel called PIE.
KROMA is one with the Globe group in its commitment to innovation, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

KROMA Brings ‘TraDigital’ Entertainment to Pinoy Audience
A new “traDigital” company backed by the 917Ventures Retirement Fund is set to revolutionize the Philippine entertainment industry with the launch of KROMA Entertainment Inc.
KROMA brings together passionate content and experienced creators, the best talent, and innovative technology to produce fresh and engaging entertainment for the Filipino audience. KROMA offers entertainment for all across screens and formats, be it high-quality films, series, TV shows, music, digital content, or events.
The company is a culmination of Globe’s years of groundwork to further enrich and future-proof the Globe Group ecosystem.
“We are excited to share KROMA with you. It’s a treasure trove of creative and innovative content that’s relevant to our audiences, featuring the country’s best creators, and talents. We are determined to forge a new path for entertainment,” says Ian Monsod, CEO of Kroma Entertainment, Inc. “Our vision is to become the leading TraDigital entertainment player in the Philippines in line with our goal of entertainment for all.”
The Globe Group is going full-scale into entertainment with KROMA, expanding its earlier venture into live events, production, publishing and music with what was then called Globe Entertainment (GENT).
KROMA’s brands offer a new entertainment experience, converging to create a more engaging, exciting, and different experience for its clients and audiences.
While revamped, LIVE MNL, a rebrand of Globe Live, still works on events and activations on ground, online and in hybrid. They are keeping the same standards that have made them a keepsake in the industry after successfully bringing to life events such as It’s A Girl Thing, ETO NA! Musikal nAPO! and the first-ever Korean virtual fan meet back in 2020.
Likewise rebranded, Globe Studios has spun off its businesses: ANIMA continues to produce award-winning and critically-acclaimed films, series and podcasts, while SECRET MENU, a full-service production house, creates branded content and television commercials.
KROMA likewise takes charge of music label PARADISE RISING, in partnership with international label 88Rising, to champion Filipino talent on the global stage. KROMA’s video-on-demand platform UPSTREAM has been home to the latest films, series and events for Filipinos everywhere.
NYMA focuses on pushing talent growth across the company’s network of partners and clients. PIE, a partnership with ABS-CBN and BEAM digital television network and supported by 917Ventures, is a multi-platform, real-time, interactive entertainment channel. It provides memorable and rewarding experiences, prizes and connections for and with Filipinos.
Rounding up the KROMA roster are Wonder, a pop culture and style platform, and FreebieMNL, everyone’s destination for the latest news and deals on food and lifestyle.
Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. It is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.
