GCash, Sakahon Empower Agricultural Sector Through Affordable, Convenient Loans for Farmers in Floridablanca, Pampanga

With its clear vision to promote financial inclusion and digital adoption for all Filipinos, GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, has launched a pilot Farmer Loan initiative which aims to empower and improve the financial literacy and capabilities of the agricultural community in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
The launch was done in collaboration with Sakahon, an award-winning agritech social enterprise that enables farmers to analyze and use data to know what the market needs ahead of time.
GCash assisted over 30 partner farmers in creating their own accounts to allow them to avail of quick and easy cash loans offered by GCash’s credit affiliate, Fuse Lending. Likewise, the farmers were introduced to other GCash services like Send Money, Pay QR, as well as savings and investment solutions.
Nanay Gemma is among the first Filipino farmers who will benefit from these digitally inclusive loans. She said in Filipino, “this program of GCash will enable us to transact faster. We don’t need many documents and no more long lines. We are grateful for this opportunity so that we are better connected to the market and to the digital world.”
Through this initiative, farmers can easily avail of additional capital for their crops through GLoan; save money and enjoy interest rates as high as 7.2% per annum through GSave; grow their money by investing in a market fund with GInvest; and protect themselves and their families by getting insured through GInsure.
“Thanks to our partnership with Sakahon, we’re making sure every Filipino, especially our farmers, have access to affordable and safe loans, helping improve their livelihood and the lives of their families,” said Tony Isidro, CEO of Fuse Lending. “As the Philippines grapple with food security issues, it’s now more important than ever to support our farmers and empower them with innovative digital financial solutions.”
Elaine Timbol, CEO of Sakahon also highlighted, “GCash has been instrumental in bridging the gap between farmers and more affordable formal loans. Through this program, we hope to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of our farmers, as we help them secure their financial future. Through financial literacy programs and bringing formal financial services closer to farmers, not only will their families benefit, but also the Philippine economy, which has been suffering from a stagnant agricultural sector.”
With over 71 million registered users to date, GCash has been tirelessly working to democratize access to important financial services like formal lending through GLoan, GGives, and GCredit.

Filipinos in the US can soon use #GCash with American Numbers

Just fresh from its initial rollout in Japan, Australia, and Italy, GCash Overseas is now expanding into the United States allowing the first 1,000 Filipinos there to use the e-wallet even without a Philippine SIM Card.
Filipinos in the US can soon sign up for GCash by using their American mobile numbers and start supporting their families back home by sending money for free (GCash to GCash), paying bills, and buying them prepaid load credits.
“Now that we have activated GCash outside of the Philippines, we are now working towards making it available in more countries. This time, we are adding the US to our list to be able to service over 4 million of our kababayans residing there,” said Martha Sazon, president and CEO of GCash. “With strong support from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), we are able to make significant headway in scaling our services, aligned with our vision of ‘Finance for All’.”
Earlier this month, GCash received the green light from the BSP to start the initial launch of its overseas service which allowed Filipinos in Japan, Australia, and Italy to use GCash using any SIM from those countries. This has made GCash the first and only e-wallet in the Philippines to offer this kind of service overseas.
In just a few easy steps, Filipinos in the US and the initial three countries can soon begin using GCash. First, they just need to download the app from Google Play Store for Android, the App Store for iPhone and iPad users, or the Huawei Gallery. Then, users can select their country and input their details. To verify their account, they just need to scan their Philippine passport or other valid IDs and take a selfie. Fully verified users can then cash in via Remitly to start sending money, paying bills, and buying load wherever they are, with just a few taps on the app.
Aside from making GCash services available to more Filipinos worldwide, the leading e-wallet has also been continuously expanding its international payments touchpoints in partnership with global fintech giant, Alipay+. GCash can now be used to pay in select merchants across countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Qatar as well as top European destinations like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy.

#GCash #Robinsons Retail make Payments Faster and Safer with New Barcode Scanning

To help keep Filipinos safe in the new normal, GCash, the Philippines’ no. 1 financial app, and Robinsons Retail, one of the country’s largest omnichannel retailers, now offer safer and faster cashless transactions through barcode scanning.
The payment method is available at all Robinsons Department Stores, Robinsons Supermarkets, Robinson Easymart, Shopwise, The Marketplace, No Brand, and Southstar Drug as well as select Uncle John’s stores (formerly Ministop).
Paying via barcode scanning helps customers not worry about bringing the exact change or inputting the incorrect amount when making cashless transactions. It also enables merchants to manage their cash flow better and minimize errors when accepting payments.
To pay via barcode scanning, the customer just needs to generate a unique barcode from the GCash app. The Robinsons Retail store simply scans it so the shopper can pay for all the items – from groceries to medicine to Korean snacks – safely and quickly.
Thanks to the latest GCash app revamp, creating your personal barcode is a smoother process than ever. On the GCash app, simply tap the QR button on the homescreen to generate QR, pay using the QR code and present it to the cashier for scanning. It’s that simple!
“Shopping in malls is a big part of Filipino culture. It’s also how we get our essentials and more. And that shouldn’t lead to health problems or health scares. At GCash, we strive to make Filipinos’ everyday lives better, and with this exciting partnership with Robinsons Retail, we look forward to doing just that by offering safe and convenient transactions for Pinoys,” said Martha Sazon, GCash president and CEO.
Under this partnership, GCash aims to roll out the barcode scanning feature in more Robinsons Retail stores across the country.
“At Robinsons Retail, we do our best to make shopping a delightful experience for everyone. That means making it safe, easy, and hassle-free for shoppers whether they’re buying groceries for the week at a Robinsons Supermarket or a quick snack at an Uncle John’s. With GCash, paying for purchases at the check-out counter is easier and safer with just a few taps and a quick scan,” said Stanley Co, Managing Director of Robinsons Retail’s Supermarket Segment.
GCash’s scan-to-pay partnership with Robinsons Retail began in 2017 via in-store QR, which are still offered by all Robinsons Retail brands. Cash-in is also offered by Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Easymart, The Marketplace, Shopwise, and No Brand, Uncle John’s, and Southstar Drug. Cash-out is available at Robinsons Business Center.
For more convenient shopping on a budget, Robinsons Retail also accepts GCredit and GGives, which are both available on the GCash app. GCredit offers a credit line for up to P30,000 with zero annual fees. All you need is 1 valid ID and be at least 21 years old. GGives is an installment payment option for up to 24 months for purchases of up to P125,000 with an interest as low as 0% depending on your GScore.

#GCash Headlines Mobile World Congress Keynote with Stories on Financial Inclusion

GCash CEO Martha Sazon leads keynote on changing user experiences and technologies
The Philippines’ number one financial app, GCash, is putting the spotlight on the Philippine fintech industry at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona – highlighting how fintech innovations are empowering millions of Filipinos.
Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash, will be taking GCash to the global stage once more, as she is one of the keynote speakers in a plenary session at the MWC on the topic “New Behavior for a New Reality.” A major feat for GCash and Philippine Fintech, Sazon brings the story of the Filipino to a global audience – showing the evolving user experience and how it has expanded its portfolio to provide access to affordable services to more Filipinos across various sectors.
Aside from the keynote session, Sazon is also part of a fireside chat tackling, “The Rise of Fintech Disruption.” She will highlight how fintech is enabling the creation of powerful and disruptive solutions that have been redefining the market.
GCash is now a double unicorn valued at $2 billion with a user base of over 76 million. It has been expanding beyond its core payments and remittance business as it brings essential financial services to more Filipinos.
GCash has already grown its services to include credit, savings, insurance and investment products. It also features an e-commerce platform that offers various retail options such as food, wellness, travel, recreation, and real estate services.
The leading fintech platform has also made waves with its beta launch of GCash Overseas. This rollout will allow the first 1,000 Filipinos based in Japan, Australia and Italy to sign up for GCash using an international SIM – another game-changer in the Philippine fintech industry.
GCash is one with its parent company, the Globe Group, in enabling an inclusive digital ecosystem in the Philippines.
The Globe Group, the country’s leading digital solutions platform, will also highlight its pivot from telco to techco at the MWC, led by its president and CEO Ernest Cu. Cu will join CEOs of top Southeast Asian telcos in a discussion on new network-related technologies and connectivity challenges in the Philippines, among others.
Hosted by GSMA, a global organization unifying the mobile ecosystem, this year’s MWC is held from February 27 to March 2, 2023. The MWC is the world’s largest and most influential exhibition for the connectivity industry.
Aside from being able to share its success story in helping create a more digital and inclusive financial system in the Philippines, the MWC will also provide a good opportunity for GCash to meet with like-minded partners on how it can deliver more digital financial solutions to Filipinos around the world.
