Safe Riding this Rainy Season On Your HONDA PCX160

Published

on

Staying safe on the road has always been a challenge for most motorcycle riders, especially during the rainy season. It makes roads slippery, it decreases visibility that makes riding less comfortable and enjoyable.

In fact, studies have shown that wet road conditions can increase the risk of traffic accidents. With the rainy season well upon us, the PCX160 – CBS and the PCX160 – ABS motorcycle models and shares as well some helpful tips that can make riding much safer and even more enjoyable.

Avoid Over speeding. This is perhaps the most basic yet valuable tip. Speeding is one of the most common factors contributing to motorcycle accidents. Driving at higher speeds on wet roads can compromise your handling ability and lower braking response time making you more prone to accidents.

Since safety is always top-of-mind in all Honda motorcycles, the PCX160  comes in two (2) variants, CBS and ABS variants. The PCX160-CBS comes with the Combi Brake System or CBS. The CBS variant is engineered to provide about 20 percent braking power to the front brakes when engaging just the rear brake lever.

It offers more efficient braking control while making it ideal even for novice riders and combined with its 134-mm ground clearance, you get an easy-to-handle motorcycle that’s more than capable of tackling the city streets even when it’s raining.

On the other hand, the PCX160-ABS is equipped with front-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System or ABS. This adjusts the braking pressure accordingly to prevent the wheel from locking and assists with maintaining the stability of the bike. This comes in handy especially when you need under the rain when roads are slippery.

Vehicle maintenance goes beyond the engine. It is standard to maintain your motorcycle’s engine. Making sure the engine is in good running condition, there are no oil leaks in the front and rear shocks, the tires have adequate treading, there is still enough brake fluid and, if the brake pads are not yet worn out, are just some of the common things we need to remember when it comes to vehicle maintenance.

HONDA PCX160 Philippines

However, we all know how visibility can be impaired when riding out in the rain so your motorcycle’s headlights, winker light, and tail light should be functioning well, so can see what’s ahead of you – and be seen by other motorists as well. When it comes to visibility, you are covered with the PCX160. Not only does the bike sport a new and elegant LED headlight, the motorcycle has a new slimmer X-shaped tail light design that ensures that you are easily seen by other motorists.

Be mindful of road conditions. A sudden downpour can make traversing road conditions more difficult. Common road conditions like potholes, diggings, and even fellow motorists can be road hazards which is prone to accident. When it comes to these road conditions, the PCX160 – ABS  model can easily handle this because it has the innovative Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) that prevent rear wheel slip. This comes in handy when traversing wet even slippery roads or uneven terrain. What’s more, the bike showcases 110/70 – 14MC in the  front and 130/70 – 13MC rear tires for added traction no matter what the condition of the road is.

It is important to know and practice road safety precautions. So, the next time you find yourself riding out in the rain, it pays to know the road conditions and apply safety driving tips during rainy season.

Staying connected – always. Sometimes you need to keep riding no matter what the weather condtion. Keeping in touch means they worry less especially if they know you are on the road in the rain. With the PCX160, staying in touch is a breeze because the bike comes with a secured front pocket with a built-in USB charging port for charging your phone so you can keep contact with your loved ones anytime and no matter where you are.

When it comes to choosing a motorcycle, you can’t go wrong with the PCX160-CBS (SRP: 133,900.00) and PCX160-ABS (SRP: P151,900.00). Not only is it loaded with modern styling cues, it has a 157cc 4-stroke, Liquid-Cooled, 4-Valve, Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) eSP + engine, that packs a punch when on the road so you still experience the same excitement and freedom of mobility at the same time.

So, when you are on the lookout for a motorcycle that allows you to savour a safe and leisure ride around the city or a means to get to work even while out in the middle of the rain, this bike might be the right one for you.
