GCash and AB Capital Make Stock Market Investment No Transaction Fee

GCash, the leading finance app in the country, has joined forces with AB Capital Securities Inc. (ABSCI) to eliminate the P20 broker’s commission fee in GStocks PH, aiming to stimulate more retail investor activity in the local stock market.

GStocks PH now imposes a flat commission fee of 0.25% on all transactions, making it one of the pioneering trading platforms to adopt lower fees.

This initiative follows the Security Exchange Commission’s (SEC) decision in April to abolish the minimum commission that stockbrokers could levy on their customers for transactions under P8,000. This move is intended to invigorate activity in the local stock market, aligning with the shared objective of enhancing the country’s capital markets and promoting economic growth.

“With this initiative, investing in the stock market has become more accessible and affordable than ever. Through GStocks PH, GCash aims to draw more retail investors, stimulate trading activity, and improve user experience by providing more cost-effective transactions on the platform. We believe that promoting stock market investments, together with our partner, ABSCI, can positively impact the economy,” stated Winsley Bangit, GCash Vice President and Group Head for New Businesses and Wealth Management.

The country’s benchmark, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi), has been trading around the 6,600 level, bouncing back from its 6,400 low in April this year. According to ABCSI, the market outlook for the second half of 2024 is optimistic, driven by anticipated interest rate cuts. This development presents a great opportunity for investors to accumulate more stocks.

“Filipinos can leverage investment platforms like GStocks PH, as it will allow them to optimize their earning potential early on,” said Hazel Tan, ABCSI Head of Research.

With GStocks PH, GCash users can effortlessly venture into investing in local stocks.
