vivo V50 5G Full Review: Flagship Smartphone Pro Portraits, 4K Video, and Ultra Gaming

As a tech content creator and a heavy user of smartphones , I’ve reviewed plenty of midrange smartphones. But the #vivov50 5G immediately stood out with its strong ZEISS branding and the promise of professional-grade photography features. After using it extensively, especially for portrait photography and gaming, here's my clear and straightforward verdict. #vivo #unboxing

🧠 ZEISS Imaging: Flagship Portraits in Your Pocket

At the heart of the V50 is a triple 50MP camera setup:

50MP Main Camera (OIS): Delivers exceptional clarity and contrast, especially in daylight. Its 1/1.55-inch sensor gives it strong low-light performance too.

50MP Ultra-Wide (119° FOV): Autofocus-enabled, doubling as a macro shooter. Surprisingly sharp with minimal distortion.

50MP Selfie Camera (92° FOV): Wide, sharp, and ideal for barkada selfies or content creation.

The AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0, which surrounds the camera, acts as a ring light, improving lighting in dim environments—like having a mini studio in your hand.

🎨 Studio-Like Lighting with ZEISS Magic

One of the standout features is the 7 ZEISS-style bokeh effects, giving you artistic depth that mimics DSLR shots. Whether you're into cinematic portraits, creative street shots, or classic wedding tones, this camera has a mode for that. Personally, I loved the “Prosecco” and “Collection of Lost Pieces” filters—it adds a dramatic flair to ordinary photos.

The AI 3D Studio Lighting 2.0 also steps up the selfie game by intelligently adjusting backlighting. Your face stays sharp and well-lit even when the sun’s behind you.

🎥 4K Video Across All Lenses

Content creators, rejoice! You can record 4K videos on all three cameras with CIPA 4.0-level stabilization. Walking shots feel smooth, almost like using a gimbal. The lack of a telephoto lens is notable, but the digital zoom works surprisingly well for social media videos.

📷 Portraits at Night? No Problem!

Night portraits are often where midrange phones fail but not here. Thanks to a flagship sensor and large aperture, combined with intelligent AI lighting, low-light portraits on the V50 hold their detail. It softens skin tones just right without over-processing.

💡 Real-Life Test: Real Image Capture Test

Taking this phone around Cebu, I found the shutter fast, color reproduction vivid but not oversaturated, and edge detection precise. With a few taps in the built-in AI Image Studio (Erase 2.0, Cutout, Enhance), my edits were ready to post without third-party apps.

🎮 Gaming Test: Genshin Impact & Mobile Legends on Max Graphics

Aside from photography, I tested how the vivo V50 5G handles two of the Philippines’ most popular mobile games—Mobile Legends and Genshin Impact. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint.

On Mobile Legends, I played several matches on Ultra graphics and High Frame Rate mode. The gameplay ran smoothly at a consistent 60 FPS, even during intense 5v5 clashes. The phone stayed cool after more than an hour of continuous use, thanks to the Ultra Large VC Cooling System. The stereo speakers are loud and well-balanced, making positional sound cues easy to catch great for ranked matches.

Genshin Impact, known for being demanding, was also very playable. I ran it at its highest settings and 60 FPS. During exploration in Liyue and boss fights, the FPS hovered between 55 and 60 initially, settling around 50+ after prolonged play. The visuals on the 6.77-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen were gorgeous. It used about 6–7% battery every 10 minutes on high settings, but the 6000mAh BlueVolt battery held up impressively. Even with extended sessions, the phone didn’t heat up uncomfortably.
