HUAWEI Celebrates Active Rings Fun Run & Launches Online Challenge

#HUAWEI, in partnership with RUNRIO, GCash, Shopee, Leslie’s, Nature’s Spring, and Universal Robina Corporation (URC), successfully hosted the ‘Active Rings’ Fun Run on November 8, 2025 at the SM Mall of Asia Complex.

Exclusive to HUAWEI’s community of users, the 5KM run brought together 1000 participants that included everyone from beginners to professional runners. The route took runners past landmarks such as the MOA Eye, transforming the morning into a celebration of fitness, innovation, and the beauty of the city.

This event marks the latest chapter in HUAWEI’s Active Rings movement—a campaign designed to inspire Filipinos to live healthier, smarter, and more connected lives through the power of wearable technology.

A Race That Celebrated Movement and Community

Participants were welcomed by a lively Race Village featuring an interactive photo wall, giant inflatable displays, and engaging partner booths.

Once all participants had crossed the finish line, the top three fastest male and female finishers were recognized for their outstanding performance.

For the women’s category, Jennifer Barlis secured first place with a recorded time of 25 minutes and 11 seconds. Carizza Joy Sotalbo followed closely in second with 25 minutes and 36 seconds, while Katrina Alyss Co rounded out the top three at 25 minutes and 56 seconds.

In the men’s category, Edzel Baritua claimed victory with a finishing time of 16 minutes and 26 seconds, edging out Joseph Fontamillas, who finished in 16 minutes and 29 seconds. Coming in third was Jerssylee De Vera with a time of 16 minutes and 47 seconds.

For many, the run helped showcase HUAWEI wearables. “What I like most about my HUAWEI WATCH is that its heart rate response, sleep, and distance are very accurate. It really helps us athletes a lot to push ourselves and improve our activities, especially for runs like this,” said Edzel Baritua, who claimed the first place for the Men’s Race.

Long-time HUAWEI user Jennifer Barlis, who secured the first place for the Women's Race, shared that the HUAWEI WATCH series has enabled her to keep better track of her health. “I've been a HUAWEI user since 2013 and my favorite thing about my HUAWEI Watch is its long-lasting battery. Next, the integrated HUAWEI Health App is really helpful in tracking our performance and health, given its accurate tracking features,” she said.

Many shared their enthusiasm for the event. “It's really fun to be a part of the HUAWEI Running Community. The people are so competitive. It's my first time joining and it was such a refreshing experience. My HUAWEI wearable has helped me keep track of my speed and performance and all the features I need as a runner are in the HUAWEI Health app,” shared Carizza Joy Sotalbo, Second Placer of the Women’s Race.

“It’s my first time joining the HUAWEI Active Rings fun run, so I finally got the opportunity to participate,” said third-place winner Katrina Alyss Co. “This event inspired and motivated me because I got to see other runners during the race that share the same love for running that I do.”

Shopee and GCash Technology for Each Lifestyle

The event brought together the best of smart life convenience and community fun through partner activations.

The GCash Watch Pay booth invited participants to bind and activate their GCash accounts directly on their HUAWEI smartwatches, unlocking the ease of cashless payments through their wrist.

Meanwhile, content creator and influencer James Afante joined the event while livestreaming, capturing the energy of the starting line all the way to the finish. His livestream showcased real-time runner interactions, race-day atmosphere, and behind-the-scenes moments that showed the importance of community in staying consistent and motivated in fitness.

These collaborations reflect HUAWEI’s commitment to integrating fitness with modern lifestyle convenience—where technology, health, and community meet seamlessly.

Light Up Your Active Rings and Keep the Momentum Going

Following the success of the on-ground event, HUAWEI extends the spirit of movement through its “Light Up Your Active Rings” Online Challenge via the HUAWEI Health App, running from November 8 to November 30, 2025.
