Globe is optimizing its network in Tagbilaran City through the activation of new 5G sites, delivering faster and more reliable connectivity to support Bohol’s growing tourism industry, improve access to digital services, and strengthen communications for communities and emergency response efforts. The enhanced network rollout enables better mobile experiences for residents, visitors, schools, healthcare institutions, businesses, and government operations across the city.
Last year, Bohol welcomed almost 1.5 million tourists, reflecting a 4.18% increase from the previous year, according to data from the Bohol Provincial Tourism Office reported by the Philippine Information Agency in February 2026. The continued rise in tourism highlights the increasing importance of strong mobile connectivity in supporting modern travel experiences. With fast 5G experience and network reliability access in Tagbilaran City, tourists can easily navigate destinations, book accommodations and transport, use digital payment platforms, share content instantly, and stay connected while exploring the island.
For residents and local businesses, reliable network performance experience helps enable smoother online transactions, digital entrepreneurship, remote work, cloud-based operations, streaming, and access to online services that have become essential to daily life.
“Bohol’s growth as a tourism and economic center makes reliable connectivity even more important for communities and industries that depend on digital access,” said Jimbo Cordero, Visayas Territory Head at Globe. “Through these new 5G optimizations in Tagbilaran City, Globe is strengthening digital access for residents, businesses, schools, healthcare institutions, and visitors while supporting the province’s continued progress.”
The network enhancement performance is expected to benefit Tagbilaran City residents and contribute to the connectivity needs of more than 1.4 million people across Bohol province. It also supports public schools, state colleges and universities Tagbilaran City Division and hospitals and medical centers serving the local community.
The 5G sites enhance communication and benefit schools, colleges, universities, LGUs, healthcare facilities, hotels, and communities by improving access to online learning, digital tools, government services, healthcare support, and communication. They also strengthen emergency and disaster response by enabling faster sharing of real-time advisories, weather updates, photos, videos, and location information among communities, responders, hospitals, and local government units.
For tourists, improved connectivity also enhances access to Bohol’s tourist destinations and attractions, making it easier to navigate the island, access travel information, book accommodations and transport, share experiences online, and stay connected while exploring Bohol’s world-renowned natural and cultural sites.
The Tagbilaran City rollout forms part of Globe’s broader network expansion efforts across the Visayas and Mindanao. Globe earlier reported that its 5G coverage reached 97.97% in key cities across both regions as of March 2025 following the activation of 235 new 5G sites nationwide, supporting more than 9.5 million 5G-capable devices.
To further improve service quality, Globe continues to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies into its network operations to optimize performance, minimize disruptions, improve uptime, and support more energy-efficient systems.
“Connectivity today goes beyond internet access. It helps communities unlock opportunities, strengthen resilience, support livelihoods, and participate in the digital economy,” Cordero added. “Globe remains committed to building a more connected and digitally empowered Visayas through continuous investments in reliable and future-ready network infrastructure.”
Globe continues to strengthen its presence in Bohol by bringing digital services closer to communities through its pop-up store at Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City, offering mobile and broadband services for households and small businesses. In 2025, Globe also donated ten refurbished laptops to several barangays in support of their digitalization journey and adoption of eGovernance initiatives, including programs for the Lupon Tagapamayapa.
