Globe Network Boost Ormoc City Piña Festival 2026: 5G and COW Details

Stronger connectivity for brighter festival moments at Piña Festival 2026.

Globe reinforced its network in Ormoc City to deliver reliable connectivity throughout the Piña Festival 2026, enabling residents, visitors, businesses, and local government units to stay connected during one of the city's biggest annual celebrations.

Held alongside Ormoc City's annual fiesta in honor of Saints Peter and Paul, the Piña Festival celebrates Ormoc's identity as the home of the renowned Queen Pineapple, a locally grown Formosa variety known for its distinct sweetness. The annual event showcases the city's agricultural heritage, promotes tourism and local enterprises, and brings communities together through colorful cultural presentations and festivities.

With more visitors expected during the celebration, Globe deployed a Cellsite-on-Wheels (COW)  at Ormoc City Plaza to augment network capacity and support the increased demand for mobile services. This allowed festival-goers to share photos and videos in real time, stay in touch with family and friends, use navigation apps, and make cashless transactions throughout the event.

Visitors also stopped by the Globe booth, where they explored Globe's latest products and services, received customer support, and learned more about the benefits of Globe's growing 5G network.

"Major festivals create opportunities for communities, local businesses, and tourism to flourish," said Jimbo Cordero, Globe General Manager for Visayas. "By strengthening our network during the Piña Festival, we are helping ensure that residents, visitors, merchants, and our local government partners have the reliable connectivity they need to make the most of the annual celebration."

Across Ormoc City, Globe operates more than 30 network sites, including over 15 5G sites, helping deliver faster and more reliable mobile services. The expanded capacity also supported organizers in coordinating festival activities and public communications while enabling merchants, transport providers, and other service providers to serve customers through digital transactions and online platforms.

Recognized as one of Ormoc City's premier celebrations, the Piña Festival continues to drive tourism and local economic activity by showcasing homegrown products and attracting visitors from across the region. Festival-goers can also explore destinations such as Lake Danao Natural Park and the city's heritage attractions, adding to Ormoc's appeal as a year-round destination.

By supporting celebrations like the Piña Festival, Globe helps create better experiences for residents and visitors while enabling businesses and local government units to harness digital solutions that enrich community events and promote local tourism.
