#HomeCreditPhilippines holds financial wellness workshops to equip employees with financial resilience
While financial literacy in the Philippines is improving, a
significant gap in financial resilience remains. According to the 2025
Consumer
Finance and Inclusion Survey released by the Bangko Sentral
ng Pilipinas (BSP), about 74% of Filipino adults can correctly answer
basic financial literacy questions – an important improvement from 69%
in 2021. However, only 30% of
Filipinos have enough savings to withstand emergencies or income
disruption, and only 43% are satisfied with their financial situation. #homecreditph
Recognizing this challenge, Home
Credit Philippines recently
hosted a series of financial wellness workshops for employees
at its National Capital Region offices. The sessions focused on the
theme “Building a Financially Secure Future” which equipped employees
to be “Wais sa Life” by planning smartly and strengthening their money habits to protect their hard-earned gains.
The workshops were facilitated by renowned financial advocates Fitz Villafuerte and Kimmy Batallones
(popularly known as Your Adulting Companion). This initiative was specially
timed to coincide with the celebration of International Women’s Month,
highlighting the company’s commitment to recognizing the role of women
as pillars of household financial
management.
“We believe that financial wellness should start at home. That is why at
Home
Credit, we make it a
priority to equip our employees with the financial confidence they need
to build a workforce that can make sound decisions beyond the
workplace,” shared Barbara Mecua, Home Credit Chief
People Officer. “We want our employees to be financially resilient so
they can lead by example and truly become ‘Wais’ ambassadors of Home
Credit.”
Employees shared their takeaways after the workshop. Rea Sumbe, Jr.
Complaints Specialist, said, “Gusto ko nang mag-set ng goal
kasi ayun pala ‘yung pinaka- importante.”
(I want to start setting goals now because that’s the most important part.)
Similarly, April Vallejo, CRM Complaints Specialist, emphasized the importance of growth: “Hindi mo alam kung ano ‘yung kaya mong gawin kapag hindi mo tinake ‘yung challenge sa next level.”
(You don't know what you are capable of until you take the challenge to the next level.)
